Reports
The reports that RECOUNT generates from the data it collects are the "backbone" of the System. Information is the key to producing timely client billings and managing any business, and RECOUNT provides you with accurate, up-to-the-minute reports the instant you want or need them.With RECOUNT you no longer have to wonder if your copier, telephone, or other disbursements have been captured or tabulated for client billback, because every expense is recorded and every billable service is detailed. As RECOUNT reports this data to you, increased billings and enhanced cash flow are easily realized.
RECOUNT generates eight standard report formats, and DANYL can assist you in the preparation of any desired custom reports. Reports can be displayed on your computer’s display screen or printed as a hard-copy on your printer. As an additional feature, if your company has an in-house minicomputer or mainframe, all of RECOUNT’s reports can be transmitted via standard communications protocols to that system for generation of hard copy reports, or integration into a centralized billing/reporting system.

Data Collection
RECOUNT’s data collection terminals and capabilities are controlled by TOS – the Tracer Operating System. Through TOS, your RECOUNT terminals function and communicate with the System Processing Unit (SPU) in various modes.

COMM-STOR – An exclusive DANYL feature. In this mode, terminals switch from continuous data collection and validation to STORAGE MODE, should the communication link between the SPU and the terminal be disrupted or if the PC is needed for another office task. In STORAGE MODE, terminals automatically store data by themselves, off-line, and retain this data in their OWN internal memory. When returned to service, terminals will return to normal Communications Mode and TOS begins its polling sequence to collect stored data from each terminal.

STORAGE-ONLY MODE – For smaller offices who need their computer all day, RECOUNT offers the STORAGE-ONLY MODE, whereby terminals collect and store data as stand-alone units. Upon request, data is extracted by the STORAGE MODE COLLECTION program and placed in the Log File for storage and report processing.

REMOTE COLLECTION MODE—RECOUNT collects all branch office or remote site data through the use of data communications modems and the telephone network. This option allows the System to exit from its normal data collection routine, enter REMOTE COLLECTION / BRANCH MANAGER MODE and automatically call each branch to collect stored data on a daily basis. 

COMPUTER TO COMPUTER MODE – On a daily basis, data can also be collected from other RECOUNT Systems in satellite offices via telephone.
 
Software

The strength of DANYL’s RECOUNT System is in its "heart" or TOS – The Tracer Operating System.

TOS controls the entire RECOUNT System, beginning with the RECOUNT menus and all of the programs that the menus contain within. The main software functions are:

  • Terminal Control And Data Collection

  • Communications—For Data Transfer To Host Computers
  • Media Conversion—For Data Transfer To Host Computers
  • Telephone Mgmt. (CATS)—Call Accounting Telephone System

TOS itself is a menu-driven software system. This feature offers the advantage that an operator need only select the appropriate, or desired, menu option. Each menu option is described in a "window" on the display screen as the function is selected, allowing the operator to review that selection before performing it. Through this ease-of-use design, training time for a new user of RECOUNT is greatly reduced.

Terminal Features
The Data Entry Terminals are the basic strength and your "gateway" to the RECOUNT System. These easy-to-use terminals provide a diverse range of options to match your firm’s specific needs.

RECOUNT terminals can be interfaced with a variety of office equipment, such as copiers, word processors, postage machines, or used as data entry units for general cash disbursements. Each terminal is a stand-alone, fully integrated unit which is available with either key pad or card access, and is interfaced with the RECOUNT System network via a data communications modem to ensure data integrity. Each terminal is available with two data entry formats—numeric or alpha-numeric—allowing for easy conformance to existing client coding systems.

The terminals are the point in the RECOUNT System where access is granted or denied. Prompted input commands are customized to fit the user application, recording who is making the copies or transaction, and for whom they are being made. Typical prompt sequences are USER-CLIENT-MATTER, USER-ENGAGEMENT NO., EMPLOYEE-PROJECT, and so on. A sample prompt sequence would be:

  • User Code – Who is making the copies?
  • Client Code – For whom are the copies being made?
  • Matter Code – What particular case or assignment?
  • Optional Fourth Field For Custom Applications. Type of document, size of paper, and so forth

As each transaction is being processed by RECOUNT, the data entered is validated for accuracy of all code numbers and formats. RECOUNT allows for validation of up to 100,000 account code combinations and provides a complete audit trail of all terminal transactions.

Networking Capabilities
