STREAMLINES
UNIT SETUP
RECAP
(Remote Collection, Audit, and Programming) Software
provides a systematic approach to managing Schlumberger
DANYL reprographics, vending, laundry, and POS
controllers -- as well as card point-of-sales devices.
With RECAP, all unit setup, account maintenance, and
collection can be handled from a centralized PC or
portable laptop.
One of the
biggest advantages of RECAP is that it eliminates the
need to individually program each unit. Instead, it
allows you to establish option groups -- which then
serve as "templates" for the various
stages of unit setup. Once these groups are created,
setting up a unit is a simple as assigning it the
groups with the desired options. Setting up new groups
is just as easy, as information can be readily copied
from one group to another.
Up to three
centralized databases can be established with RECAP:
a user
database, a department database, and a report code
database. Information from these databases can be
exported into a number of different formats for use in
popular database programs, as well as data from these
programs imported into RECAP.
Built-in
utilities help maintain the system -- including
backing-up and restoring data -- without ever having to
leave the program. Major RECAP tasks can also be
password-protected to control access to various menu
functions and provide greater system security.

OFFER Multiple
Collection & Reporting Options
Using RECAP,
data can be collected from one or several groups or
units -- as well as one or more individual units.
Collection options include hard-wired, dial-up, or a
combination of hard-wired and dialup communications to a
central PC -- or walk-up collection using a portable
laptop. In addition to these choices, smart card
installations have the option of using card based setup
and collection. The program also provides for delayed
activation, allowing communications to take place
unattended at night when the equipment is not in use.
Once the unit
data is uploaded to the PC, it can be compiled into a
variety of report formats for printing or viewing on
screen. With the stored information processed, RECAP can
then complete the system update by downloading new
options or accounts codes to all or selected units.

FEATURES
Allows
all Schlumberger DANYL unit setup, collection,
database, and reporting functions to be handled from a
laptop or central PC. RECAP-compatible equipment
includes: PLUS Accumulators, Card-access Terminals,
Towers, Laundry Controllers and Service Centers,
Vending Controllers (including units for honor boxes,
token and stamp dispensers, etc.), Cash Register
units, Card Service Centers, Card Value Centers, and
Prepaid Card Dispensers.
Completely
menu-driven for ease-of-use
Automatically
configures the user interface for the installed
equipment (for example if your site only has vending
equipment, RECAP will not prompt for information
pertaining to laundry equipment)
Operates
via keyboard or mouse
Eliminates
the need to configure every unit option individually
by allowing administrators to create sets of option
templates or "parameter groups". Several
types of parameter groups can be established,
including:
-
Cost Groups, which contain equipment usage fees
-
Control Groups, which contain programmable operating
settings for various features and options
- Account
Groups, which specify the account numbers to be stored
by -- or downloaded to -- different control units for
chargeback applications
- Collect
Groups, which contain the communication parameters
RECAP needs to "talk" to the control units
- numerous
collection options:
- manual
walk-up collection with a portable PC
- dial-up
(RS232) communications using a central PC which
communicates with the units through a dial modem
connected to the site telephone system
-
hard-wired (RS485) communications consisting of a
hard-wired, multi-unit wiring loop that utilizes a
central PC connected to the units through a Linemaster
- combination
of dial-up and hard-wired communications with a
central PC
- card-based
setup and collection for smart card installations
- for up to
three major databases:
- user
database, which lists all account codes and users
codes (as well as the account status and limit class)
- department
database, which lists all department codes
- report code
database, which lists all the devices (copiers,
vending machines, etc.) controlled by Schlumberger
DANYL units information into RECAP in ASCII.SDF
(Standard Data offers Allows Imports Format)
- Exports RECAP
information into popular file formats, including:
- WK1 (LOTUS®1.23®
Rev. 2.x), .WKS (LOTUS®1.2.3®Rev.1-A), XLS
(Microsoft® Excel®), .SDF (Standard Data Format),
and ASCII
- Generates a
variety of accounting, control unit management, and
transaction activity reports.
